Happy Earth Day

Upset that environmental issues were not addressed in American politics, Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin started Earth Day on April 22,1970.  Senator Nelson’s work lead to national legislation protecting the environment, including the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

At Avenue Dental, we aim to help Senator Nelson’s efforts and promote environmental preservation not just on Earth Day, but every day.

• Our digital radiography system not only takes clearer images, but also eliminates the use of harmful chemicals found in developing solution and byproducts found in x-ray film.
• We have all digital charts.  Both our clinical and administrative operations are digitized, which saves paper and reduces waste from printers.  We are also submitting digital insurance claims, reducing paper, envelopes, and transportation waste.
• The vast majority of our patient communications have switched to text or email.  While this is in part due to our patients’ preferences, it also decreases paper and transportation waste.
• We recommend that, when possible, patients use rechargeable batteries in their electric toothbrushes.  Not only does this save the environment from the toxic chemicals found in batteries, it may also save money.
• Our team uses public transport to get to and from work, reducing our carbon footprint.
